Redding Fire Department contains vegetation fire that was intentionally set

The Redding Fire Department says it contained an intentional fire that burned 1.5 acres.

REDDING, Calif. - On Friday the Redding Fire Department responded to a vegetation fire at the West end of the Sacramento River Trail near Middle Creek Rd.

When units arrived on the scene they reported an approximate 1/4 acre fire in grass and brush. CAL FIRE engines responded to help fight the fire. 

Within 15 minutes the fire was contained to approximately an acre and a half in total. No injuries or structural damage were reported, according to RFD. 

Crews remained at the scene for two and a half hours to conduct mop-up operations. 

The Redding Fire Department says the cause of the fire was determined to be intentional.
