REDDING, Calif.—Four new firefighters joined the ranks of the Redding Fire Department in a special badge pinning ceremony Friday in Redding.

The four recruits were pinned by their significant other.

They say getting to the ceremony wasn’t easy, but well worth all of their hard work.

Lucas Johnson a Redding Firefighter said, “It's exciting. When I started my career in the fire services, this is where I wanted to work. So it's kind of surreal to actually finally get my dream job.”

The recruits recently completed a four week academy that taught them the basics of how the department functions.

The new firefighters will be on the job responding to wherever they’re needed as early as next week.
