REDDING, Calif. – A new set of wheels will soon be rolling around Redding!

The Redding Area Bus Authority added a new electric bus to its fleet. The new bus is 35-feet long and can go as far as 150 miles. Funding came from the Federal Transit Administration and Redding Electric Utility.

People in Redding say, they are thrilled.

“I think it’s great,” said Richard Crumb of Redding. “I think that in our day and age, when we're going with electric cars, even trucks driving themselves, is an important thing and it's progress.”

Starting in 2029, public transit agencies in California must have zero emissions busses.

Hotter temperatures, elevated fire danger, and more widespread impacts to air quality are ahead for your Friday. We'll get even hotter on Saturday, and stay hot on Sunday. A drop in temperatures and the potential for thunderstorms will return to northern California early next week.
