REDDING, Calif. - Police arrested two Redding men Tuesday night after they found a loaded semi-automatic rifle and a loaded handgun in the men's car.
Redding police arrested 37-year-old James Muck and 35-year-old Timothy Parker, both of Redding.
Police say Muck failed to stop at a stop sign. Police then pulled over that car. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded semi-automatic SKS assault rifle and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Police say the rifle had its serial number scraped off and the handgun had been reported stolen.
Both Parker and Muck are convicted felons and prohibited from possessing firearms. Officers say after the arrest Muck told them he was concealing methamphetamine. Police searched Muck and found an ounce of meth, he is now facing possession and sale charges. Both are facing charges of possessing illegal weapons.
