KHSL - The artist who created the phoenix keys sculpture after the Camp Fire is also the founder of Butte County Art on Wheels. Jessie Mercer is now organizing "Project Nest," a fundraiser to support art programs for local youth.

The fundraiser is a silent auction to support art programs for local youth at summer camp in Butte County. There's a chance for people to bid on a chance to win one of 75 birdhouses built by local youth, uniquely painted & designed by local artists.

It will take place Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 at the Rotary Plaza Sensory Garden from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All the birdhouses will be out on display for both days.

The highest bid on Sunday at 3 p.m. wins. Mercer said the winner does not have to be present at the time.

The event will be hosted outdoors, with appropriate social distancing practices. New pens will be handed to each bidder. There will also be a virtual bid option coming up in the near future, Mercer said. People can email Mercer for more information at jessiemercer15@gmail.com.

A ridge of high pressure delivered beautiful weather to northern California on Friday. The weekend will also begin in a quiet and mild way, but changes including rain, snow and wind are coming over the next week.
