Road reopens after vehicle fire on I-5 in Shasta County

A vehicle fire is causing traffic delays and has blocked a lane on northbound I-5 in Shasta County.

UPDATE 12:56 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019 - Caltrans District 2 says traffic is returning to normal after a vehicle fire on I-5, north of Riverside Avenue in Shasta County.

UPDATE 12:40 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019 - California Highway Patrol says the vehicle has been put out, however, one of the lanes on northbound I-5 is still blocked.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - A vehicle fire is causing traffic delays and has blocked a lane on northbound I-5 in Shasta County.

Caltrans District 2 first reported the traffic delays around 11:15 a.m. 

The #2 lane of northbound I-5 is currently blocked just north of Riverside Avenue.

It took a few hours, but the sun broke through the clouds over most of northern California Tuesday afternoon. The low clouds, fog and light rain showers return to the valley Wednesday, with snowy weather in the mountains.
