UPDATE 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2019 - Officials are hoping to reopen Ord Ferry Road by the end of this week but that may extend into Monday, according to Dennis Schmidt of the Butte County Public Works.
The truck destroyed about 200 feet of guardrail and the damages will cost around $150,000 to fix.
The contractor will have to straighten the bolts, but if they can't they will have to drill through concrete and set new anchors.
UPDATE 4:17 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 - California Highway Patrol has released more information about a semi-truck crash that has closed a portion of Ord Ferry Road.
According to authorities, Ord Ferry Road will be closed between 7 Mile Road and River Road for 1-2 days as crews make repairs to the bridge.
CHP says that the driver was heading eastbound on Ord Ferry Road when the truck fell over a bridge in the area. The driver initially told CHP that he had a blowout, but evidence at the scene suggests that didn't happen.
For unknown reasons, the driver hit the corner edge of the concrete bridge causing the tire to deflate. They then lost control on the bridge and went over the side.
Drugs and alcohol are not being considered a factor in the accident.
The scrap metal that the truck was carrying spread over the street, which caused authorities to close the road.
CHP also said that the accident removed a lot of the guardrail along the road, which they are working to replace.
The semi-truck fell onto the creekbed, missing the water. The driver received minor injuries.
