Porch Pirates Steal Irreplaceable Package From Redding Family

The pictures on their phones are just one way this family can remember their father and loving husband James Thomas.
"My dad, he was probably the most honest person you ever met in your life. He took a lot of pride in having dignity,"said Jimmy Thomas.
James was a veteran, grandfather, and great grandfather who died this past August at the age of 73 after suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Doctors say he could have also had lung cancer.
But now months later, when the family was gathering for Christmas at their home on Belladonna Street, a surprise from their sister in Reno was taken right from their porch on the morning of Christmas Eve.
"She makes all of us stuff, and she is always making us stuff. She puts a lot of time in it, and she puts her heart into it," said Jimmy.
But this time it was something so special for the family no one could have ever imaged.
"It was all pillows from his jackets and his shirts. I know it looks like nothing to somebody but it really meant a lot to us," said Jimmy.
That’s when the family quickly went on a hunt up and down the street trying to find their precious memories.
"We’ve lived here since 1985 and nothing like this has ever happened to us," add late wife JoAnn Raland.
The family says they found other packages inside a homeless camp but they couldn’t find theirs.
That’s when they posted on social media sites like Redding Crime 2.0 and The New Redding Crime hoping the community could help.
Their sweet Christmas, now tainted by the thoughtless act of some indiviuals .
"I'd give $500 for those pillows, no questions asked," said Jimmy.

A dry and warmer than average Presidents' Day and work week is expected as high pressure dominates our weather. High temperatures will make the mid to upper 60s and the next chance for rain isn't until next Sunday.
