CHICO, Calif. – Police seized a large amount of meth and heroin during an arrest at the Regency Inn hotel in Chico Monday.
Dayshift officers responding to a fight at the Regency Inn at 2566 Esplanade. When they arrived, the fight had ended and everyone involved had left, according to Chico police.
While on the scene, police said they got a stolen vehicle call from one of the hotel rooms.
Officers saw a male walk into the room and then back outside again. When officers contacted the man regarding the stolen vehicle call, he began yelling at the officers and acting suspiciously, according to Chico police.
For officer safety the man was asked if he was in possession of any weapons, the man then reached toward his front right pocket. He was then patted down for weapons in order to continue with the vehicle theft investigation. During the weapons pat down, police said a large folding knife and a large amount of methamphetamine were found.
After further investigation, officers discovered 78 grams of methamphetamine in multiple packages and seven grams of heroin in his possession. He was arrested for narcotics for sale without further incident.
Chico Police said the stolen vehicle call was investigated but determined to be unfounded.
