CHICO, Calif. – Police are searching this morning for the person – or people – responsible for a shooting in a south Chico neighborhood.
Police said their dispatch team received a call regarding a shooting around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapman Town area. Residents in the 800 block of Virginia Street were reporting a shooting that involved two vehicles.
Later that night, Police said a shooting victim walked inside Enloe Medical Center. The victim was an occupant of one of the vehicles. There is no word on the victim’s status, but it is confirmed that the victim has gone into surgery.
"No one in custody right now,” said Chico Police Commander, Mike Williams. “It is still early in the investigation. We're still trying to get as much information as we can regarding a possible motive and possible additional suspects or suspects in general."
Officers found several shell casings in the area, but they are not sure how many shots were fired at the time of the shooting.
