Authorities investigating officer-involved shooting in Gridley

Authorities are now investigating a report of shots fired in Gridley Tuesday morning as an officer-involved shooting.

UPDATE 9:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019 - Authorities are now investigating a report of shots fired in Gridley Tuesday morning as an officer-involved shooting. 

According to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey, the shooting happened just after 5 a.m. on the corner of Sycamore and Jackson Streets in Gridley. 

Ramsey said that the man shot is a Hispanic man who was attempting to flee Gridley officers in a car. Shots were fired at the car, he said. 

The man was later found in a house nearby. He was air-flighted to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

GRIDLEY, Calif. - Authorities are investigating reports of shots fired in Gridley on Tuesday morning.

There is currently a heavy police presence on Sycamore Street in Gridley. 

Witnesses in the area told our reporter at the scene that the shooting happened between 4 and 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
