Police investigate potential threat on Chico State campus

University police are investigating reports of a potentially threatening individual near Meriam Library on Monday.

CHICO, Calif. - University police are investigating reports of a potentially threatening individual near Meriam Library on Monday. 

University Police Chief John Reid said that the department received reports from students about the suspect asking "potentially alarming questions." 

Reid said that he has been identified and is known to law enforcement. 

The department increased patrols in the area and urged students to take basic precautions. 

Additionally, the department asked students to report suspicious individuals by calling campus police at (530) 898-5555.
