A neighbor told Action News Now he heard about 14 gunshots that night before police arrived. He also said that it has been at least a decade since anything like this has happened in the area.
Many people there are disturbed. Shana Roles, a florist who works around the corner, expressed her distress.
"It's concerning," explained Roles. "It's kind of weird because I knew nothing about it. It's still a bit scary."
While many are troubled, some are trying to reason why this would happen here, like Angela Wakefield, "Yeah, that is a bit scary but I feel like in this area of town, there is a lot of empty businesses and so maybe it is a little easier for people to do things."
Investigators are still searching for the person responsible and the motive behind the incident.
Police in Gridley said they are continuing to investigate and wanted people to know that if you have any information, please give them a call. At this time, authorities are not sure if this was a random act or an isolated incident.
