REDDING, Calif. - A woman was arrested and a 13-year-old was taken to Children's Services after officials say the two were living in a home where meth was being sold and used.
Just before 2 p.m. on Feb. 24, police conducted a probation search at a home on Cameo Court in east Redding. The home was known to officers from past calls and the search was brought on by recent neighborhood complaints.
At the home, officials say seven people were there. In the home was about 31 grams of methamphetamine, a scale, packaging, cash and narcotic paraphernalia.
A 13-year-old was one of the seven at the home and was found to be living in the "deplorable conditions". Officials say she was also being exposed to an environment where the narcotics were being used and sold.
30-year-old Ashley Christine Peterson was booked into the Shasta County Jail on charges of sales of methamphetamine, maintaining a residence where narcotics are used or sold, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and child abuse.
The 13-year-old was taken from the home and turned over to Children's Services.
