RED BLUFF, Calif. - Two people were arrested Thursday after a 74-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint as she returned home from the Win-River Casino, according to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.
A call was made to the Shasta County Sheriff's office on 11980 Alee Lane in Redding for an armed robbery. Deputies arrived and found a 74-year-old woman with a cut on her arm.
The victim had just come home after winning money at Win-River Casino and was in her car when a male approached her with a handgun, according to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office. The victim was dragged out of her vehicle, had her purse stolen and then the suspect ran away.
The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit later found surveillance footage of the male suspect Timothy Wilt, 33, of Oroville. Footage showed Wilt follow the victim from the casino parking lot as she left the property.
Wilt was also seen with a partner identified as Alissa Long, 24, of Oroville. Witness statements and more security footage showed Wilt’s vehicle follow the victim to her home.
Detectives went to an apartment complex on 820 Kimball Rd. in Red Bluff and located Wilt and Long. They refused to exit their apartment for half an hour but eventually exited and were arrested peacefully.
Evidence was found in their apartment, linking them to the surveillance footage.
Wilt and Long were booked into Shasta County Jail for robbery, criminal threats, conspiracy and elder abuse with great bodily harm. Long’s bail is set at $50,000, and Wilt is being held without bail due to a violation of a probation warrant.
