Police: Report of break-in, man dies moments later in Oroville

Officers from the Oroville Police Department say a man died on Friday moments after receiving a call of a break-in Friday.

OROVILLE, Calif. - Officers from the Oroville Police Department say a man died on Friday moments after receiving a call of a break-in.

Officers released this information through a press release on Monday, it states that a call came in about 3:45 p.m. Sep. 11, from a person who lives in the area of Brereton Way and Floral Avenue within northeast Oroville.

The call was regarding a suspicious person that had unlawfully entered a home in the mentioned intersection.

Upon arrival, officers determined that Eric Bohacek, 52, had unlawfully entered the occupied home.

According to officers, one of the residents of the home was fearing for the safety of himself and his family. He then confronted Bohacek, at which time a physical altercation began.

When officers arrived, they found Bohacek unresponsive. Life-saving measures were performed by officers but to no avail.

Bohacek was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation, an autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of Bohacek's death.
