Police: Man arrested in Oroville for selling drugs to minors

The Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force arrested a man for selling narcotics and Xanax to minors on Thursday in Oroville.

OROVILLE, Calif.- A search warrant served by the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force ended with the arrest of a man charged with selling narcotics and Xanax to minors on Thursday. 

Steven Aust,19, was arrested on the 1120 Block of 18th St. and while being transported to jail attempted to escape and resisted arrest. 

Aust was recaptured uninjured and was booked into the Butte County Jail.

Aust is charged with three counts of sales of Xanax to minors and two counts of sales of narcotics to minors.

He is currently being held in jail on a $500,000 bail.

This investigation was part of an investigation by the BINTF agents into the illegal sales of prescription medications, counterfeit medications and narcotics such as cocaine, to minors in Butte County. Which began due to several overdoses of young adults due to fentanyl.
