Police: Man arrested for setting a dumpster on fire in Chico

Chico Police arrested a man for allegedly starting a fire in a dumpster behind a business on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy.

CHICO, Calif. - Chico Police arrested a man on East 20th St. and Forest Ave. on Tuesday after he allegedly started a fire earlier in the morning.

At around 6 a.m. Chico Fire received a call dumpster fire behind a business on the 2000 Block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and it was contained to the dumpster.

Nicholas Craig, 32, was identified by Chico Police as the suspect that allegedly caused the fire after video surveillance was provided by a business manager.

When Craig was arrested he was wearing the same purple athletic jersey he had on when he set the fire earlier, Chico Police said.

Craig was arrested for arson and faces a $50,000 bail.
