Police: Anderson man with five warrants recognized by police, arrested

The Anderson Police Department located two people parked outside a closed convenience store and one person had five warrants out for his arrest.

ANDERSON, Calif. - Anderson Police Departments Bike Team arrested two people outside a closed convenience store early Monday morning, police said.

The bike team contacted two vehicles just after 3:30 a.m. that were parked next to each other in a parking lot of a convenience store on Ox Yoke Road.

One of the subjects was recognized through prior contacts and he gave officers a false name. 37-year-old Clinton Benfer of Cottonwood had five warrants out for his arrest and for being on felony probation.

The second person, who was not identified by police, was on active California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Parole.

Police searched the person's vehicle and found drug paraphernalia including meth pipes, syringes and a scale. This person was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of the terms and conditions of his supervised release.

The two people were booked into the Shasta County Jail.
