PLUMAS COUNTY, Calif. – The Plumas County Sheriff’s Department is searching for an attempted kidnapping suspect last seen in the city of Portola.
Deputies said on Monday, May 26, they received reports of a suspicious circumstance that happened the previous evening in Portola.
Through investigation, the suspect was identified as Joshua Stephan Bevan. Deputies said he reportedly followed two juveniles around town and approached them at three separate locations throughout the night. The suspect attempted to coerce the victims into his vehicle by telling them he knew one of their relatives and stated the relative asked him to give them a ride home.
Authorities said Joshua Stephan Bevan is 49-years-old, approximately 5’5” tall, weighs around 140 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Deputies said he is reportedly driving a white 1994 Lincoln Sedan with California License number 6KSL420.
