UPDATE: 1:07 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020 - Pita Pit in downtown Chico took to Facebook to share its been cleared to reopen after an employee tested positive for the virus the week of July 8.
Employees shared that the closure felt like the right thing to do, but it did cause a negative impact on their business. Employees at Pita Pit said they continue to closely follow all health and safety guidelines, including the mask mandate.
CHICO, Calif. - Pita Pit says one of its Chico employees has tested positive for the coronavirus.
In a Facebook post, the restaurant said "the best thing [they] can do to protect [their] community is to share honestly and take action immediately."
The Canadian-based restaurant said the employee worked a short shift at the Downtown Chico restaurant on July 1 and they have not been back since.
"As we are a small team, we are all getting tested and will be closed while we await results," the restaurant said in the post.
Since reopening their doors, the business said the entire team has worn masks, used gloves and have been sanitizing.
