Staff and volunteers at Wags & Whiskers Pet Rescue in Chico are desperately searching for a stolen pit bull. They say two men stole 2-year-old "Karma" from an adoption event on January 13th.
According to dog trainer Niculina Archer, the two men walked up to Karna’s cage and began asking questions about her. Then they asked if they could walk her, and Archer said yes. A few minutes later, both men, and Karma were gone.
Archer says the fact that Karma is a pit bull puts her in great peril. She says pit bulls are sometimes used as bait dogs to train larger, more dangerous pit bulls in illegal dog-fighting rings. She says, “Am I worried? I'm scared to death for this dog.”
Wags & Whiskers of Chico rescued Karma from a high-kill shelter hours before she was to be put down to make space. She'd been used as a breeding dog, she is grey, microchipped, and she walks with a limp.
Wags and Whiskers is offering a $1200 dollar reward for her return, no questions asked.
