BECKWOURTH, Calif. – A pilot is in the hospital after a crash landing at the Nervino Airport in Beckwourth.

Deputies with the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office said they were notified Friday around 10:35 a.m. of a possible aircraft collision.

Emergency crews arrived at the Nervino Airport where the pilot of an ultralight plane had lost control on approach and crash-landed on the runway, according to deputies.

The pilot had to be extricated and was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno with moderate to severe injuries, the sheriff’s office said. The pilot was the only occupant in the plane.

The Federal Aviation Administration was notified and will be conducting an investigation.

Dense fog has developed across parts of northern California Monday morning and the potential for light showers will return today. We'll dry out and warm up on Tuesday, but more cool and wet weather is expected mid week. A more substantial wet system is currently projected to move into our region this weekend.
