CHICO, Calif. - A woman from Chico is being praised by Petco for opening up her door to so many dogs around the North State community.

Shelly Rogers is a full-time working woman who has had a heart for dogs that are either homeless, sick or just needs some tender TLC.

Rogers has fostered at least 62 dogs from the Chico Animal Shelter and has seen all of them land forever homes.

Petco gave Rogers a $150 gift card to give to the Chico Animal Shelter for winning the country-wide competition.

Rogers says she has not succumbed to adopting one of the foster dogs and that people should go out and foster whenever they can.

The Chico Animal Shelter is always looking for foster parents, they suggest to pick up a form at the Chico Animal Shelter located at 2579 Fair St. during regular business hours.
