CHICO, Calif. - People can now apply for a new passport at Chico State in a program just recently put in place.

The program is the first of its kind for the university that is now taking passport applications on behalf of the U.S. State Department.

Any U.S. citizen planning international travel can apply at the school in the Student Services Center in room 440.

The new program has already helped a few Camp Fire survivors and those involved have hopes of serving hundreds of students and faculty with study- and teach-abroad programs.

Those who wish to do so do not need an appointment and should visit the center any weekday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sunday was a bright and toasty day for northern California, with the warmest highs we've experienced since October 2020, with valley highs in the upper 80s and 90s. Monday will be slightly cooler.
