Paradise prepares to welcome students back to school Aug. 15.

With over 200 staff members returning to Paradise, schools are anxiously awaiting to welcome students back on Aug. 15.

PARADISE, Calif. - With over 200 staff members returning to Paradise, schools are anxiously awaiting to welcome students back on Aug. 15. 

Due to Paradise rebuilding, Ponderosa Elementary and Paradise Elementary Schools will now attend Paradise Ridge Elementary School.

The schools will be transporting students from Oroville, Durham, and Chico up to Paradise. 

Paradise Unified School District is preparing for students with new playground equipment being installed, new technology, and fresh paint on the school buildings.

Paradise Unified School District Superintendent Michelle John says they are anticipating 1200 students. 

A new agriculture department and AP courses will be available to students.

The school is also offering students a construction class to help kids be apart of rebuilding the community of Paradise.

The first of two storms moved over northern California late last night and this morning, but our weather has quieted for now. More rain showers will fall Saturday, but heavier rain and snow with stronger wind arrives Sunday.
