PARADISE, Calif. - The Paradise town council has banned the sale of flavored tobacco products in the town.
On June 9, the council voted to have staff come back for a second reading with an ordinance that would set in place a ban on the sale of the product.
The council was presented with four options:
- Create a Tobacco Retail License for businesses in Paradise (this would also ban the sale of flavored tobacco products)
- Ban the sale of flavored tobacco products without creating a Tobacco Retail License
- Ban the sale of flavored tobacco products, except for menthol-flavored
- Take no action
The motion passed 3-2 and supported plan number two.

One question asked was who would police the ban? The council was advised this would be policed by code enforcement.
At their next meeting, a second reading will take place with the council voting on the written-up ordinance, which will take effect soon after.
