Paradise Rebuilding and Recovery: More than 8,600 properties cleared of debris

Paradise Town Councilman Steve Crowder provided an update on debris removal and upcoming meetings after the Camp Fire.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - Paradise Town Councilwoman Melissa Schuster provided an update on debris removal and upcoming meetings after the Camp Fire.

Debris Removal Update

  • As of July 31, 2019, there have been 8,672 properties cleared of debris.
  • The county has certified 3,724 properties as "clean of debris."
  • There have been 125 building permits issued

Other Updates

The town’s first monthly community meeting is next Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 6 pm. The meeting is dedicated to hear updates directly from our local agencies like PID, PUSD, CAL OES, FEMA, Butte County etc. 

The Chico Clinic will be held on Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. Anyone in need will be offered free dental, medical and vision care. To register, CLICK HERE. The clinic is also in need of volunteers. To register as a volunteer, CLICK HERE

July 31 is the last Party in the Park of the summer. Paradise town officials say there will be a special guest in attendance.

Paradise Community Dinners are held every Thursday at the Paradise Alliance Church located at 6491, Clark Rd. Dinner is free and open to anyone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Can we have some sort of outlined plan or proposed schedule of what the PG&E settlement for the Town of Paradise is going to be?

Answer: At this time, town officials do not know when the PG&E bankruptcy will be settled or when a settlement would be released. At a future date, the Town Council will discuss how to reinvest the funds to ensure long-term operational funding for the town. This settlement is not a part of individual claims against PG&E.

Question: An update on the status of having an ambulance in town.

Answer: Currently, there is an ambulance available in town during daytime hours. Once a facility is established there will be an ambulance 24 hours a day.

Question: Update on grant applications submitted by TOP (Cal Home, FEMA, etc.) for dead trees?

Answer: The town has submitted a request letter to FEMA concerning a Right of Entry program for dead trees and is awaiting a response. Town officials say they should be hearing back very soon.
