Overturned vehicle causes delays on I-5

The California Highway Patrol is responding to an overturned big rig on northbound I-5 at the Twin View Boulevard off-ramp.

UPDATE 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 - All northbound lanes of I-5 have been cleared. 


UPDATE 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 - According to California Highway Patrol, a green Toyota T100 towing a hideout trailer was traveling northbound on I-5 at the speed limit.

Witnesses say that the driver drifted to the right shoulder, and then swerved over to the left to correct it. 

The trailer started fishtailing, the driver lost control, and the vehicle and camper overturned. 

As of 1:30 p.m., the right lane is still closed on I-5. 

Both northbound lanes were closed for 5-10 minutes while crews separated the truck from the trailer. They said there were some pinched propane tanks and there was concern that the trailer could ignite. 

The driver was not injured. 


SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - The California Highway Patrol is responding to an overturned big rig on northbound I-5 at the Twin View Boulevard off-ramp. 

According to CHP, a green pick up truck pulling a camping trailer fishtailed and overturned, blocking the right lane going northbound on I-5. 

The incident happened around 12 p.m. on Friday. 

According to Caltrans District 2, the #1 lane reopened northbound to traffic. However, the #2 lane remains closed as crews continue to clean up and assist with moving the vehicle and trailer.
