Oroville's Annual Salmon Festival

Oroville’s Annual Salmon Festival is taking place this weekend, but is looking a little different this year.

OROVILLE, Calif. - Oroville’s Annual Salmon Festival looked a little different this year.

The event was scaled down to protect the public’s health. There were only a few activities that were scheduled for the 2020 version of the annual event.

One of the events scheduled is the Kayak Floats. They are organized by the Forebay Aquatic Center, and they are designed so people can get close up so that they can see the salmon in the Feather River.

Brad Cooke the Director of the Forebay Aquatic Center said people were really enjoying the event.

"And we have fishery biologists that came and educated us and we pulled fish out of the water. We have seen all kinds of wildlife and people are just loving it to get outside,” said Cooke.

Cooke also added there are more kayak rides tomorrow and they might be having a couple more over the next few weeks.

Tuesday was another sunny and unseasonably warm to hot day for much of northern California. It was much like Monday, except the wind was stronger, and the wind will be much stronger through much of the next week.
