OROVILLE, Calif. - Protesters in Oroville are rallying against a tentative city takeover of the Southside Community Center.

About 75 people gathered to protest in the rain against the city taking the Southside Oroville Community Center.

They arrived at 4:30 p.m. with signs, umbrellas, and masks.

A community group led by Pastor Kevin Thompson claims the city is trying to take over the community center.

Thompson said it would "be devastating" if the city replaced their community center.

City Council said it's not looking to take it over but instead said the county has been looking to offload the building. The council also claims they are considering whether or not to take it off the county's hands.

It has not yet been determined what will happen to the community center.
