UPDATE: 10:19 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2020 - The Butte County Sheriff's Office provided additional details into an ongoing sexual abuse investigation.

Authorities shared Tuesday that they identified the mother of the three children, who were victims of sexual abuse involving two Oroville men. 

Through investigation, evidence was located showing the mother identified as 33-year-old Summer Carver, of Oroville, was present on several occasions when David Acuff molested the victims, according to detectives. Evidence also proved that Carver was present on one occasion when Joshua Chadwick molested one of the victims. 

Detectives said it was determined Carver had a total of five children, Butte County Children's Services detained all children.

On the afternoon of July 13, Carver was placed under arrest and booked into the Butte County Jail, detectives said. She was arrested for three felony counts of making a child available for the purpose of allowing lewd and lascivious acts to be committed on the child, among others charges, according to the sheriff's report.

Her bail has been set at $825,000. She is scheduled to be arraigned at the Butte County Superior Court on Wednesday, July 15.

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - Two people have been arrested in Oroville for ongoing sexual abuse of children.

Butte County Sheriff's Detectives say they arrested Joshua Chadwick, after finding electronic images of child pornography during a search of his home.

They say a further investigation turned up evidence he had been abusing three children under the age of ten, for an extended period of time.

Investigators also arrested 38-year-old David Acuff, of Oroville, on charges of abusing the same three children.

Neither man is eligible for bail. Chadwick and Acuff are set to be arraigned at the Butte County Superior Court Monday, July 13.
