OROVILLE, Calif. – A man wanted on assault with a deadly weapon charge is now facing drug charges as well.
Butte County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a local hospital on Friday, July 17, and contacted the victim of an assault. The victim explained 41-year-old David Gonzales became upset with the victim and struck the victim several times with a baseball bat.
Gonzales was also on active parole for assault with a deadly weapon, deputies said.
Detectives went to Gonzales’ home Monday to arrest him for the attack that happened on July 17. During the arrest, they found the bat that authorities said was used in the attack, a gun, and more than 180 marijuana plants.
Gonzales is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday, July 22. BCSO said based on the fact he violated the terms and conditions of his parole, he is not eligible for bail until he attends future court proceedings.
