Oroville crash leads to cattle on roadway

An early morning semi-truck collision in Oroville left cattle trapped inside and loose on the highway.

OROVILLE, Calif. – Early Saturday morning the Oroville Division of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) was dispatched to a collision that had been reported on Highway 162 at Wickman Rd.

When officers arrived at approximately 1:45 a.m. they said they discovered an overturned semi-truck that contained dozens of trapped steer. Also, several dozen cattle were seen running loose near the collision scene.

According to the CHP, the driver of the semi told officers he swerved to miss hitting a deer. The driver and his passenger were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
