Oroville council candidates participate in Saturday afternoon debate

The debate will be held outside at the Purple Line Urban Winery in Oroville. Five of seven candidates have confirmed so far.

OROVILLE, Calif. - A debate for candidates for the Oroville City Council is scheduled to take place outside at the Purple Line Urban Winery at 760 Safford Streeet Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 from 4:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Five of seven candidates have confirmed with organizers that they will attend the forum. Seasoned debate moderator Jim Moll joins three others to help guide the candidates and audience through the debate process.

Questions were compiled from those contributed to by community members, including business owners.

Candidates are attending in person. Organizer Stephanie Reynolds Bever said masks will be provided and social distancing will be maintained.

People can also view a live stream of the event on the Facebook page called "OROVILLE group for politics and discussion."

Joe's food truck will be available for purchasing food during the debate, said Bever.
