OROVILLE, Calif. – Big Lots and Salvation Army on Oro Dam Blvd. was evacuated Thursday morning because of an odor, employees tell Action News Now.

People were evacuated at 10 a.m. and dispatch told Action News Now that it was due to a “slight odor” as well as an active situation around 10:40 a.m.

PG&E and Oroville Fire responded. PG&E Paul Moreno said firefighters located an unused toilet with a dried out bowl. He said because of this the pipe had no water to block the sewer smell.

Moreno said they added water to the bowl to prevent the issue. People were let back in stores about 20 minutes later.
