OROVILLE, Calif. - Oroville Police arrested a man wanted in a violent armed robbery at a Montgomery Street convenience store on Monday.

The robbery at the Food Express happened on May 24, but the suspect, Thomas Bauguess, 35, was arrested Monday.

Police say Bauguess previously worked at the store and was recognized by the clerk during the robbery.

That clerk told officers Bauguess found a baseball bat and attacked him before stealing $700 from the cash register.

Bauguess was booked into the Butte County Jail and faces charges of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. His bail is set at $80,000.

Thankfully, the wind is cooperating much better today in northern California. Our weather is still quite hot for this time of year and very dry. There is plenty of haze and smoke from the Fawn Fire overhead, and it isn't leaving yet.
