OROVILLE, Calif. - The Oroville Police Department says with the help of Sacramento County officials, they have arrested a man on multiple felony counts for the sexual assault of a child.
Back in Jan. of 2020, the department says it received a report of an alleged child sexual assault. While it did happen in Oroville, police say they found the 27-year-old was living in Texas.
Oroville Police say they ultimately launched three criminal investigations against Gabriel Sanchez about the allegations.
Months into the investigation on Sept. 1, the department's Investigations Unit, with help from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, arrested Sanchez at the Sacramento Airport.
Sanchez was booked into the Butte County Jail on the following charges:
- Two felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor
- Two felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child
- One felony count of oral copulation upon a minor
- One felony count of sending harmful material to a minor
The 27-year-old is being held on $2.2 million bail.
