The 9th Annual Oroville Hunger Walk takes place Saturday, March 17th ... rain or shine.

Sponsored by the Cooperating Christian Churches of Oroville, the event raises money for local non-profits that provide direct food relief to the hungry in Oroville... including Feed the People, Oroville Rescue Mission, the Salvation Army and the Hope Center.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m. at Riverbend Park, and the walk begins at 9 a.m. It travels down Montgomery Street through historic downtown Oroville to Meyers and then back to the park via Bird Street.

Donations are welcome. They can be sent to The Cooperating Christian Churches of Oroville, PO Box 1254, Oroville, CA 95965. Make sure they are payable to CCCO with Oroville Hunger Walk on the memo line.

You can also call (530) 520-6454 for more information or to make a donation.

The first of two storms moved over northern California late last night and this morning, but our weather has quieted for now. More rain showers will fall Saturday, but heavier rain and snow with stronger wind arrives Sunday.
