The Oroville Dam Spillway Crisis forever changed how the North State perceives the dam and the reservoir that provides more than 20 million people in Southern California with water.

January 2017, the North State was literally drenched in good news.

After 5 punishing years of drought, wave after wave of storms brought sheets of rain to the area.

Heavy snow in the mountains nearly doubled the region's snowpack in a week, state reservoirs were fuller than they'd been in 6 years.

But, no one could predict what was about to happen.
