OROVILLE, Calif. - In the last 15 days, the California Highway Patrol in Oroville has arrested 13 DUI drivers, and the scary part is Officer Ryan Lambert says that number is not surprising.

Lambert says it's unfortunate and sad that this statistic is not out of the ordinary.

He says DUI's tend to increase as the weather gets warmer with people partying and barbecuing, and says they usually see a spike in the spring.

Lambert said it should be common knowledge that drinking and driving is dangerous and can ultimately cost someone their life, and says it's sad people still do it.

“You kill someone while you’re intoxicated, you can be prosecuted and charged with murder. That in itself should be a deterrent for everyone, but it doesn't seem to be that way.”

Lambert also said that's just how many people they've caught, and it's scary to think how many people are out there driving drunk who they're not able to catch.
