ORLAND, Calif. - An Orland missing persons case has been upgraded to a homicide.

The Glenn County Sheriff's Office says Brandon Dawson, 26 of Orland, went missing in the early hours of the morning on March 8th. Dawson's mother, Kelly Skidmore, and girlfriend, Ashley Heitland, reported Dawson missing to the Sheriff's Office on March 10th.

Deputies did not find Dawson in the immediate area and the investigation was turned over to Detectives from the Glenn Investigative Task Force.

The Sheriff's Office says they received several tips from family and sources alleging that Dawson was in a dispute regarding illegal drugs and that he was murdered sometime on or after March 8th and that his body was left in Colusa County.

Detectives requested the aid of cadaver dogs and handlers along with members of the Colusa County Sheriff's Office, Glenn and Colusa County Search and Rescue who searched in the wilderness area near Colusa and Lake County.

During the search, cadaver dogs located human remains in the area of Walker Ridge in Colusa County. The remains were identified as Dawson.

Dawson's family was notified and the investigation is ongoing.
