ORLAND, Calif. - An Orland man died when his vehicle left the roadway on Saturday evening, according to California Highway Patrol Willows.

38-year-old Eddie Ontiveroz was driving southbound on Interstate 5 when he was exiting the freeway to State Route 32 around 7:05 p.m.

Due to high speeds, Ontiveroz failed to stop at a stop sign at Newville Road and crossed all the lanes of Newville Road.

The vehicle then left the southbound side of Newville Road to the southbound onramp of Interstate 5.

Ontiveroz collided into a dirt embankment and a chain-link fence.

CHP said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor.
