OROVILLE, Calif. -- On Tuesday night, an open house in Oroville is breaking down the plans for a project that will improve road safety on Highway 70, just south of Oroville.

Tuesday's open house is another important step in potentially saving lives on this dangerous stretch of road.

This expansion has been a long time coming, 30 years to be exact.

Highway 70 has seen 35 deaths since 2010 between Oroville and Marysville.

About $147 million will go towards widening the highway to five lanes for 11 miles between Oroville and the Yuba County line.

Caltrans and Butte County Association of Governments employees are answering any questions the public might have at the Southside Oroville Community Center.
