Officer ejected from motorcycle by distracted driver

A Chico Police Officer was ejected when a car rear-ended him on Monday.

CHICO, Calif. - An officer on his motorcycle was rear-ended and ejected by a distracted motorist on Monday, Chico Police Department said.

Chico Police Traffic Sergeant Todd Lefkowitz was stopped at the traffic light on East 1st Ave and Neal Dow Ave. when he was rear-ended, Chico Police Department said.

Sergeant Lefkowitz suffered minor injuries and the motorcycle had minimal damage, police said.

Police later identified the distracted driver as 40-year-old Jamie Ornelas-Luna, who was not injured and did not show signs of impairment.
