BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - A Concow-based community group is putting a fire relief grant to good work.
From the Ground Up Farms received a $25,000 grant from the North Valley Community Foundation for a portable sawmill.
It can be set up on properties with stacks of burned trees. Those trees can then be turned into finished lumber for use in the rebuilding process.
The North Valley Community Foundation calls their ingenuity and self-reliance "impressive" and a good example of putting burned trees to use in the rebuilding process and saving money for those who want to rebuild.
