The North State celebrates National Night Out

Communities and local law enforcement are coming together to celebrate National Night Out on Aug. 6.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA -Communities and local law enforcement are coming together to celebrate National Night Out on Aug. 6.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes strong police-community partnerships and neighborhood relationships, more welcoming places to live.

Communities celebrate this night by hosting block parties, BBQ's, ice cream socials and various community events with visits from Chico Police Personnel.

Chico

On Aug. 6, from 5 - 8 p.m., neighbors throughout Chico are asked to lock their doors, turn on the porch lights and spend the evening outside together.

The City of Chico Parks Division will also be hosting National Night Out from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Caper Acres in Bidwell Park on Aug. 6, 2019.

The Chico Target Department store will be hosting games, hot dogs, appearances by a Chico Police K-9 Unit Chico Police VIPS, and Chico Fire and Rescue.

Red Bluff

The Red Bluff Police Department will host National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Forward Park.

Oroville

The city of Oroville and the Oroville Police Department are putting together National Night Out from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Municipal Auditorium (1200 Meyers St.)

There will be food vendors, K9 demonstrations, safety awareness booths, entertainment and more.

City of Shasta Lake

Local law enforcement is putting together National Night Out in the city of Shasta Lake on Aug. 6 at Claire Engle Park (1525 Median Ave.)

There will be free hot dogs, chips and drinks as well as a watermelon eating contest. There will also be a K9 demo, McGruff the crime prevention dog, free child ID fingerprinting, balloons and prizes for kids. Law enforcement officers will put together crime prevention tips and community safety information.

Yuba City

The Yuba City community will be celebrating National Night Out in the following locations:

  • Bridge Coffee Company – 101 Clark Ave. Yuba City
  • City Hall (front lawn area) – 1201 Civic Center Blvd. Yuba City
  • Richland Housing Community – Miles Ave. (off of Garden Hwy)
  • Mahal Plaza – 1719 Franklin Ave. Yuba City

Gridley

The Gridley community will be celebrating National Night Out on Aug. 6 from 5 - 8 p.m. 

Community members can join local law enforcement at Manuel Vierra Park located on Washington Street in Gridley.

Thankfully, the wind is cooperating much better today in northern California. Our weather is still quite hot for this time of year and very dry. There is plenty of haze and smoke from the Fawn Fire overhead, and it isn't leaving yet.
