2 NORTH STATE COUNTIES MOVE TIERS IN STATE'S COVID-19 SYSTEM

Butte County Public Health has moved from Tier 2 (red) to a less-restrictive Tier 3 (orange). This shift to the orange tier allows more businesses to reopen and some that are already open to increase capacity. This change in tiers is effective immediately for some business sectors in Butte County, according to BCPH.

Health officials said the current Butte County COVID-19 case rate is 3.5 cases per 100,000 residents with a 1.8% test positivity rate and a 1.4% health equity metric. Read more

Shasta County officially moved into the widespread, purple tier. This is the most restrictive tier in the state’s system.

Health officials said over the weekend, Shasta County submitted a request to the state for adjudication of the county's anticipated move into the purple (widespread) tier. The county said it explained the recent Covid-19 outbreaks and the steps taken to address them. Read more

Tuesday was another sunny and unseasonably warm to hot day for much of northern California. It was much like Monday, except the wind was stronger, and the wind will be much stronger through much of the next week.
