CHICO, Calif. - A Chico AAU basketball team is preparing for a month-long circuit.
The NorCal Ducks will play in LA, Oakland, Portland and Las Vegas. It'll be in a different city every weekend of July.
The Ducks are shooting their shot against some of the best AAU teams in the area. The circuit is also a chance to gain national attention.
That’s the goal for point guard Noah Thomas. He’s been playing AAU ball since 3rd grade. The senior at Pleasant Valley High School dreams of playing college basketball.
“I’m really excited to show what I can do and show coaches what I can add to their programs,” Noah said.
College coaches and scouts come from all over the country, ranging in level from JUCO to Division I.
“You walk into the gym and you see them across from the baseline,” Ducks Coach Courtney Bobinger said. “It's actually a really cool thing. A lot of kids from Chico don't get the luxury of being able to go and be in these kinds of things.”
Noah has already received interest from colleges, including an offer from the University of Puget Sound in Washington.
The NorCal Ducks held a fundraiser to raise money for travel expenses and tournament fees. The circuit begins this weekend.
