WILLOWS, Calif. - A new fire chief for the Willows Fire Department was sworn in on Tuesday night.

At the city council meeting Tuesday, Nathan Monck was sworn in as the new fire chief of the Willows Fire Department.

The Willows Fire Department said he has been dedicated to serving the community.

Monch tells Actions News Now that he plans to fill the empty positions and get a full staff.

He said he is looking at several state and federal grants that the fire department can apply for to get protection equipment.

Monch said he believes filling the volunteer vacancies will be difficult but important because he says it is the heart and soul of the department.

He is looking forward to helping the department grow as he thinks the job will be dynamic and enjoyable.
